    Overcoming Fear

    Sarah Hart

Fear is the most debilitating state to be in. It stops you in your tracks. Where does it come from? How can you stop it? Is there a way to block fear from effecting you again?

In short, fear can result from a few situations, it can be learned, meaning it was displayed to you somewhere in your life when you were young, it can be experienced, you may have been in a situation similar to the one that might be causing you fear currently. It could also be a hangover effect from a previous life. The first thing to realise is that there will always be moments in your life that cause you fear, it is unavoidable, the question is how can you manage yourself when confronted by fear?

The feeling of being overcome with fear can be paralysing, it can produce a physical as well as emotional response. From a racing heart, shaking or crying or all three. Fear can cause you to behave in ways contrary to who you really are.

So how do you stop fear? The goal is to keep moving. Fear causes you to stand still, so the opposite is required; Take an action! Do something that counteracts the very thing that is causing you to feel fearful.

It can be minor, you just need to take an action. In doing so it reinforces your self belief enough to help you realise you can cope! So keep moving!
